HUMAN CAPITAL DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVES AND THE PRODUCTIVITY AND INNOVATION OF PRIVATE AGRICULTURAL BUSINESSES IN NIGERIA: A STUDY OF TOSETT AGRO INDUSTRIES, ODOGBOLU, OGUN STATE, NIGERIA
Abstract
This research examined the importance of developing the skills and knowledge of employees in privately owned Agro-processing industries in Nigeria, with a specific focus on Tosett Agro Industries. The study aimed to understand how initiatives aimed at developing the human capital within the company relate to its productivity and innovation. To collect data for this study, a carefully designed questionnaire titled "Human Capital Development Initiatives and Impact on Tosett Agro Industries' Productivity and Innovation" was used to gather responses from individuals associated with Tosett Agro Industries. The research hypotheses were tested using statistical analysis software called SPSS, employing Multiple Regression Analysis. The results of the study indicate a significant positive connection between human capital development and productivity. Additionally, the study highlights the positive effects of investing in human capital on innovation and operational efficiency within the company. These findings underscore the importance of nurturing human capital development within agro-processing industries as a means to promote sustainable economic growth in Nigeria. It was recommended thaton-and-off the job training should be provided for all categories of the employees to improve their efficiency at work and therefore company level of productivity.
