JOB DESIGN AND EMPLOYEE JOB SATISFACTION OF JOS ELECTRICITY DISTRIBUTION COMPANY, GBOKO STATION, BENUE STATE-NIGERIA

Abstract


This study examined effect of job design on employee job satisfaction of Jos Electricity Distribution Company Plc (JED) Gboko Station.  Specifically, the study examined the effect of Job rotation and job enrichment on the employee job satisfaction of JED, Gboko station. This study is based on the job characteristics theory developed by Hackman and Oldham and Herzberg two- factor theory. The study adopted cross sectional research design. Data was collected from a census population of 35 staff of JED, Gboko Station. The study used employee job satisfaction as dependent variable and job design as independent variables which was measured using job rotation and job enrichment. The study used regression analysis as method of data analysis. The study discovered that job rotation and job enrichment have significant effect on employee job satisfaction. The study concluded that job design through job rotation and job enrichment has improved the employee job satisfaction of staff of JED, Gboko station. Based on the findings of this study, it is recommended that Management of organizations in Nigeria should adapt job rotation and job enrichment and applied it when designing jobs so as to ensure employee job satisfaction of their workers.
