EXTENT OF AVAILABILITY AND UTILIZATION OF INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGY (ICT) FOR EFFECTIVE TEACHING AND LEARNING IN PUBLIC SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN ENUGU STATE
Abstract
This study was carried out to investigate the extent of availability and utilization of ICT for effective teaching and learning in public secondary schools in Enugu state. One (1) research question was used for the study. The 750 population made up of principals and teachers were used as the sampled respondents. The study adopted survey research design. Structured questionnaire tagged: Availability, Utilization of ICT for Teaching and Learning in Public Secondary Schools (AUITLPSS) was used to solicit information from the respondents. Mean, frequency and percentage scores were used to analyze data. Data collated were presented, analyzed and interpreted. The findings showed that ICT facilities are not adequately available and those little available ones were not fully utilized for effective teaching and learning in public secondary schools in Enugu state. The study recommended that Government and stakeholders in education system should provide adequate ICT fund for public secondary schools in Enugu and beyond. This will enable the schools’ management to provide adequate ICT facilities for effective teaching and learning purposes.
