Abstract

This paper examined the relevance of Mary Follett human relations theory to Educational Management. The scientific theory of management emphasized the application of scientific principles of management. It was criticized for reducing human beings as machines. This gave birth to the emergence of the human relations school of thought otherwise called humanism. This theory placed emphasis on getting things done through people who have other needs apart from economic needs. Among the proponents of this theory was Mary Parker Follett (1868-1933). This paper also, examined the contributions of Mary Parker Follett to the management of educational management, philosophy, principles of management, relevance and criticisms of her theory. Suggestions were made for managers contemplating adopting it as a management technique.
